The Merchant and the Donkey
This is a Kui story for kids, Kui Children stories. The story is about a lazy donkey and a salt merchant. Once the merchant bought salt and loaded it on Donkey’s back, on their way back, they crossed a stream. Suddenly, the Donkey tripped and fell into the stream; stepping out, the Donkey’s load was lessened. Knowing this, the donkey tricks and falls into the stream every time to reduce his burden. Realising this, the merchant bought cotton and loaded it on Donkey’s back. Again, the Donkey uses the same trick, but his burden is heavier this time. The story teaches that being lazy is a bad thing.
